Charles The 2nd

Some of my favorite spots along the bike path headed towards the city:

Men In The Kitchen

My roommate, Ben, and I cooked for our ladies this past evening:

Teriyaki Shrimp with rice noodles, garlic, jalapeƱo, mushrooms, onions, and brocolli.

Brownie Batter covered strawberry and whisk over Cool Whip with cinnamon and powdered sugar.
We made brownies for dessert but figured this was more fun. We saved the best part for the girls.

BBQ

We had a bbq at our place last weekend. Markey took over the grill with a dominating performance so I could creep with my camera using my 50mm f/1.8 lens. We had stuffed mushrooms, garlic bread, sliders (they're mini burgers!), corn, and a couple kinds of chicken all cooked on the beast. Next time I'll remember to take closeups of the food before I shove it in my face.

South Cape Beach Evening

I was trying not to point my lens at the people who were still in bathing suits at the end of a beach day:

I got a polarizing lens filter and tested it out last week by the charles river:

South Cape Beach at Night

This past weekend I had the chance to try long exposure shots at night for the fist time. These pictures were taken from South Cape Beach in Mashpee, MA around 11 PM. The lights across the water are coming from Martha's Vineyard across the Nantucket Sound.

Pictures and Words

perspective

When looking for focus, buy a camera! I'm having some serious fun with my new DSLR that arrived last week. My sister Robyn and brother-in-law JP gave me some tutorials this past weekend on the basic workings of photography. I'm trying to stay in the manual mode to get experience with it. Stick shift and grinding gears! Sure Instagram is easier, cheaper, more accessible and quite possibly leads to better looking photos... but all of that convenience has to mean you are sacrificing some control. Let there be light.

I'll be using this blog to share my view of life through pictures and words (glass and prose). Life is an adventure worth sharing; a narrative with many transitions. These transitions bring new questions, not all of which can be answered. Nevertheless, I'm planning to change course and look upon things with fresh eyes and embrace all of the highs and lows. As Kurt Vonnegut would say, "so it goes."
