The main square of Lima is called Plaza Mayor or Plaza de Armas (weapons square). The Plaza de Armas is the central square of many south american cities. This city square marks the birthplace of the city and center for both church and state.
Here is the government palace. In front, still like statutes for hours on end, guards armed with swords stood on ceremony. We were lucky enough to be just in time for the changing of the guards (video at the bottom of the post).
